About Bomdila

Bomdila, located in the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, is a beautiful hill station offering stunning views of the Eastern Himalayas, including the snow-capped peaks of the Kangto and Nyegi Kangsang mountains. Known for its scenic beauty, cultural richness and pleasant weather, Bomdila serves as a gateway to the picturesque Tawang region. The town is a blend of Buddhist culture, nature and adventure, attracting tourists for both its spiritual significance and outdoor activities. The Bomdila War Memorial stands loftily at a height of 9,498 feet, overlooking the Eastern Himalayan peaks of Gorichen, Kangto, and others. It is a poignant reminder of the 1962 Indo-China war.

The Battle of Bomdi La, part of the Sino-Indian War of 1962, involved the resolute defence of the town against overwhelming odds.

Note: Since few regions in Bomdila are situated at an altitude more than 9,000 feet above sea level, tourists are advised to follow the acclimatization process. Please refer to the PDF attached in the important links section.
